Year 5 Annelise Gray Author Talk
BackYear 5 pupils from Geckos and Iguanas class had a wonderful morning visiting Norwich School for a talk by the amazing Annelise Gray, the author of the Circus Maximus series. Pupils enjoyed hearing about the inspirations behind her novels, set in Ancient Rome. The novels focus on the adventures of a young aspiring chariot rider named Dido.
Annelise shared some fascinating insights into the real history that inspired her writing, including the treasures found in the ruins of ancient Pompeii and the mosaics of celebrated Roman chariot riders.
Our pupils were wonderfully engaged by Annelise, asking thoughtful questions and making great links to their knowledge of Roman history from Year 4. Annelise also read to the pupils a particularly exciting and dramatic extract from one of her books, after this there was an opportunity for pupils to have their books signed by the author herself.
Inspiring pupils to read and find enjoyment from reading supports our vision and goals to ensure that all pupils have the reading ability to access our curriculum. Reading is the foundation of our curriculum and provides access to a wealth of knowledge and inspiration for young people.
